The look of the whole film: research, concept art, sets, locations and dressing, from breakdown to wrap. Art direction too.
Creative Paces Studios designs the worlds of film and television, builds them in our own shop, and finishes them in visual effects. Now we bring the same craft to websites and brands for local businesses.

Breakdowns, research and sourcing: what the world must say before anyone builds it.

Concept art, drafting and 3D models, so the director walks the set before it exists.

Builds, dressing, props and printed pieces, made to survive the shoot.

Final frames and visual effects: proof the plan held up on camera.

pod frame, The Memory Keeper - built in our shop
I design the world on set, then finish it in post.
I'm a production designer and VFX supervisor, which means I'm usually there from the first sketch to the final frame. I draw the concept art, build the sets and props, and then supervise the effects that carry them on screen, so nothing gets lost between what was designed and what the audience sees. On Ethan Hickey's science fiction feature Falsehood , I took the film from concept art and set construction, including a 3D-printed face prop and an LED-lit weapon, through four months of visual effects. For director Lane Bishop I designed three Christmas films in a row, then the back-to-back thrillers Her Deadly Night in Paris and The Venice Murders , shot on location in Paris, Venice and Nice. I art directed Alex Noyer's folklore horror Love Is the Monster , and as prop master on the thriller The Unrestricted War I built working electronic devices and a 3D-printed virus container. Producers bring me in when the budget is tight and the vision isn't. I trained in digital media arts at Seneca, design foundations at Humber and graphic design at Georgian, and I still work hands-on: illustration, painting, Blender, After Effects and Embergen. Off set I'm usually cycling, travelling, taking photos, or making masks for The House of Many Faces.
